The Diocese is about the size of the State of Tasmania and is larger than Ireland, and Fr Rob and Deacon Ralph Madigan travel thousands of kilometres every year to visit the numerous aboriginal communities. During the presentation ceremony at Brookvale, Fr Rob - dressed in white in the photo below - said, “We visit isolated communities and cover vast distances, "For the work we do, it is essential to have a reliable vehicle. We are enormously grateful for the school's continuing support." The College first welcomed Fr Rob in November 2010, when he was given his previous vehicle.
In both instances, the necessary funds were mainly raised through the College’s annual walkathon, under the auspices of the College’s SEA program. As one of the Senior students explained to the visitors at the presentation ceremony, “SEA is for Service, Education and Awareness, and we support a number of social justice causes.”
The vehicle presented to Fr Rob was a Holden Colorado covered utility. The vehicle commemorates a former past pupil of the Class of 2007, Chris Drake. While a law student, he drowned after being swept from North Curl Curl rock pool in March 2013. Mr Drake's parents, Trevor and Nikki Drake, attended the presentation ceremony. en507
