During the recent 2015 mid-year break, Villanova College hosted a large contingent of staff and students from Australia’s other Augustinian school, St Augustine’s College, Sydney. During the visit teams competed in debating, basketball, football and rugby. The games were played in great spirit, and many friendships were formed. This tradition of annual interaction between these two schools began in 1962, firstly with a Rugby Union competition and subsequently with other sports and activities as well.
The College Captain of Villanova reported, “As always, the tour was filled with limitless enthusiasm and a strong sense of school spirit over the intense yet memorable days. This was an opportunity for both students and staff to bond over our strong connections with our brother school and create memories that will last a life time.”
He continued, “It was an honour to take part in such a strong tradition and one of which will continue for many years to come. Next year will see the excitement grow as Villanova will visit St Augustine’s in Sydney and battle hard to bring bragging rights back to Villanova.”
